National Law Enforcement Officers’ Memorial

National Law Enforcement Officers’ Memorial

In 1962, President John F. Kennedy signed a proclamation designating May 15th as Peace Officers Memorial Day. Each year during National Police Week, the Burbank Police Foundation sponsors the travel expenses for two Burbank Police Officers’ Association members to visit the National Law Enforcement Officers’ Memorial in Washington DC. One of our Cherished Activities, we are committed to participating in this time honored tradition as a means of paying tribute and honoring those law enforcement officers who have given their lives in the line of duty. Memorial Wall features the names of over 21,000 fallen law enforcement officers etched in stone. Sadly, this number continues to grow, but we at the Burbank Police Foundation are committed to advocating in support of law enforcement and supporting programs designed to keep our officers safe.
